CGPA Calculator for Egypt
Calculate your CGPA using Egypt's grading systems. Traditional percentage + degree classification and modern credit-hour GPA (4.0 scale) as used by Cairo, AUC and other universities.
Egyptian universities traditionally use percentage-based grading with degree classifications. Many now use GPA/CGPA (usually 4.0 scale) under the credit-hour system alongside or instead of percentages.
1) Percentage + Degree Classification
Assessment based on final percentage marks. Degrees classified as Excellent, Very Good, Good, Pass, or Fail. Used in many faculties, especially older programmes.
2) GPA/CGPA under Credit Hour System
Widely used in private universities and newer public programmes. GPA and CGPA on 4.0 scale; grades credit-weighted; credits called "credit hours".
- Pass mark: 50% in most universities.
- Rounding: Typically 2 decimal places; institution-specific.
A) GPA/CGPA (Credit Hour System)
- Grades awarded: Letter grades (A, A−, B+, B, C+, C, D, F) mapped from percentage ranges.
- Convert to grade points: A=4.0, A−=3.7, B+=3.3, B=3.0, C+=2.7, C=2.4, D=2.0, F=0.
- Credit weighting: Grade points earned = Grade point × Credit hours.
- Compute GPA/CGPA: GPA = Σ(GP × credits) ÷ Σ(credits). CGPA = all grade points ÷ all credits.
B) Traditional percentage-based
Final average = Σ(Mark × Course weight) ÷ Σ(Course weight). Degree classification from final percentage.

Egyptian degrees are evaluated differently for traditional vs credit-hour systems. GPA-based transcripts convert more directly. Percentage-based degrees often require credential evaluation (UK ENIC, WES).
