How IB to GPA Conversion Works

IB Diploma Scoring Structure

Six Subject Groups (42 points maximum)

Each of the six subjects (Studies in Language & Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals & Societies, Sciences, Mathematics, and The Arts) is graded on a scale of 1-7, with 7 being the highest.

6 subjects × 7 points = 42 points maximum

TOK and Extended Essay (3 bonus points maximum)

Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and the Extended Essay (EE) are graded A-E. The combination can award up to 3 additional bonus points.

Total Score Calculation

42 (subjects) + 3 (bonus) = 45 points maximum

Minimum 24 points required for IB Diploma
