Generally 50%, but check your course guide as some clinical or engineering modules require 60%. There may also be a minimum exam mark requirement (usually 40-50% of the exam itself).

What is a 'Restricted Pass' (R)?

At USP, an 'R' grade (40–49%) may allow you to pass the course but might prevent you from using it as a prerequisite for higher-level courses.

How many credits is a full-time load?

Normally 60 credit points per semester (4 courses of 15 credits each). One credit point equals 10 notional hours of learning.

Does my GPA include foundation courses?

Usually, the Degree GPA only includes courses at Level 7 (Bachelor's level) and above, but check your specific faculty rules.

How are Fiji degrees viewed internationally?

A Fijian 'First Class' is widely recognized as equivalent to a UK First Class. Because Fiji uses a 4.0 or 4.5 system, it is highly compatible with North American applications. A 3.0 GPA in Fiji is generally viewed as a 'B' average in the US.

What is Academic Probation?

Academic Probation applies if you fall below a 2.0 GPA for one semester. If you fail to improve after probation, you may face suspension.

How the Calculation Works

GPA and Weighted Average

GPA = Σ(Grade Point × Credit Points) ÷ Σ(Total Credit Points). This calculator uses the same idea with percentage marks: weighted average = Σ(Mark × Credits) ÷ Σ(Credits). Enter your percentage per course (from your transcript) and set year weights. The result maps to the Honours bands above.

Example: 4 courses × 15 credits each = 60 credits. Grades: A (80%), B+ (75%), C (52%), B (68%). Weighted = (80×15 + 75×15 + 52×15 + 68×15) / 60 = 68.75% → Upper Second Class (2:1).
