Student guidance

Don't overlook the attendance policy! In The Gambia, even if you're an "A" student in exams, missing too many classes will result in an "F" and 0.0 on your GPA. Always sign the attendance register.

Latin Honours (Faculty of Law)

Some faculties at UTG use Latin Honours in addition to standard classifications:

Latin HonourCQPA Range
Summa Cum Laude4.000 – 4.300
Magna Cum Laude3.850 – 3.990
Cum Laude3.700 – 3.840

How the Calculation Works

CQPA and Quality Points

GPA = Σ(Quality Point Value × Credit Hours) ÷ Σ(Total Credit Hours). This calculator uses the same idea with percentage marks: weighted average = Σ(Mark × Credits) ÷ Σ(Credits). Enter your percentage per course and set year weights if applicable.

Example: 5 courses totaling 14 credits. Grades: A (4.0), B+ (3.3), A- (3.7), B (3.0), C (2.0). Credits: 3, 3, 3, 4, 1. Quality Points = 12 + 9.9 + 11.1 + 12 + 2 = 47. Semester GPA = 47 / 14 = 3.357 → Second Class Upper.
