The Canadian grading system explained
Canada does not have a single national grading standard. Each province and institution maintains its own grading policies. In Ontario (home to University of Toronto, Western, McMaster, and others), the standard A threshold is 80%, making a Canadian 80% roughly equivalent to a US 3.7 GPA. In British Columbia (UBC, SFU), similar thresholds apply. Quebec CEGEP institutions use a 60-point scale with distinct conversion requirements.
