Polish Grade Calculator (2.0–5.0)

Calculate your weighted average (Średnia ocen) using Poland's 2.0–5.0 scale and ECTS credits (Punkty ECTS). Pass mark is 3.0 (Dostateczny); 2.0 is fail. Used at University of Warsaw, Jagiellonian, and all Polish universities.

Grading System Overview (Poland)
2.0–5.0 scale with ECTS (Punkty ECTS)

Polish higher education uses a standardized 2.0–5.0 numerical scale and the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS). The system follows the Bologna Process and is designed for transparency and international mobility.

  • Pass mark: 3.0 (Dostateczny – Satisfactory). 2.0 (Niedostateczny) is fail.
  • Credits (Punkty ECTS): 30 ECTS per semester (60 per academic year).
  • Assessment: each semester has an exam session (sesja egzaminacyjna) and a resit session (sesja poprawkowa).
  • Średnia ważona: weighted average by ECTS points.
  • Zaliczenie (ZAL): pass/credit entry that can appear without numeric grade and often carries no average weight unless graded.
How Grades and GPA Are Calculated
Średnia ocen = ECTS-weighted average

The Średnia ocen (GPA) is the weighted arithmetic mean:

Średnia ocen = Σ(Grade × ECTS) ÷ Σ(ECTS)
Final Diploma Result = (0.6 × A) + (0.2 × T) + (0.2 × E)

A = cumulative average, T = thesis grade, E = final exam grade.

Średnia ocen = 68.0 ÷ 17 = 4.00

Diploma example: (0.6 × 4.10) + (0.2 × 5.0) + (0.2 × 4.5) = 4.36, which maps to Dobry plus.

What Your Final Result Means
  • Średnia ważona: ECTS-weighted coursework average used for progression and scholarship decisions.
  • Ocena na dyplomie: final diploma result from weighted coursework + thesis + final exam formula.
  • Dyplom z wyróżnieniem: distinction status, commonly requiring very high average (often around 4.75, institution-specific).
