Romanian Grade Calculator (1-10)
Calculate your Romanian medie ponderata using the national 1-10 scale and ECTS credits. Minimum pass for modules is 5.00. Results are shown to two decimals using official truncation (no rounding).
Romanian higher education uses a nationally standardized 1 to 10 numeric scale, aligned with ECTS. Coursework pass mark is 5.00.
- Direction: Higher is better.
- Credits: Credite ECTS / Credite de studiu.
- Weighted average: Medie ponderata = Σ(grade × credits) / Σ(credits).
- Truncation rule: averages are kept to two decimals without rounding.
- Final graduation threshold: final Licenta/Disertatie result must be at least 6.00.

| Grade | Descriptor | Meaning | Status |

| 10 | Excelent / Zece | Excellent | Pass |
| 9 | Foarte bine / Noua | Very Good | Pass |
| 7-8 | Bine / Sapte-Opt | Good | Pass |

If a module is failed (1-4), it earns 0 credits and must be retaken (restanta). After a successful retake, the passing grade is used for credit and average calculations.
Final exam pass conditions: minimum 5.00 in each component and at least 6.00 overall.
Failed Statistics (grade 4) initially yields 0 earned ECTS for that module. After restanta retake with grade 7, the updated weighted calculation is:
| Course | ECTS | Grade | Grade × ECTS |
|---|---|---|---|
| Macroeconomics | 6 | 9 | 54 |
| Accounting Basics | 6 | 5 | 30 |
| Business Law | 5 | 8 | 40 |
| Statistics (resit) | 6 | 7 | 42 |
| English for Business | 3 | 10 | 30 |
| TOTAL | 26 | 196 |
The Ministry framework standardizes the 1-10 scale, ECTS usage, and pass thresholds nationally. Universities may differ in internal implementation details (for example, component minimums in final exam procedures).
- University of Bucharest (UB) - national 1-10 model.
- Babes-Bolyai University (UBB) - national 1-10 model.
- UTCN - explicitly applies truncation without rounding.
- SNSPA - national 1-10 model and finalization methodology.
