Grading System Overview (Moldova)
National 1-10 scale with ECTS-weighted averages

Moldova uses a standardized 1 to 10 university scale. The minimum pass mark is 5.00 for modules and final graduation exams.

  • Direction: Higher is better.
  • Credits: ECTS credits (credite de studiu transferabile).
  • Weighted average: Media = Sum(grade x credits) / Sum(credits).
  • Final degree model: 50% cumulative coursework + 50% final licenta exam or thesis.

How We Calculate Results
Module, cumulative, and final licenta calculations
Module Grade = (Continuous Assessment x 0.60) + (Final Exam x 0.40)
Cumulative Average = Sum(Module Grade x ECTS) / Total ECTS
Final Degree Grade = (Cumulative Average + Licenta Exam or Thesis Grade) / 2

Failed grades (1-4) earn no credits and require restanta resit. After passing, the new grade is used for credit-weighted averages.
