Degree Classification (Divisions)
The final Cumulative Weighted Average (CWA) determines your Division classification. Some universities weight final years (Level 3 and 4) more heavily.
| Division | Percentage Range | International Recognition |
|---|---|---|
| First Division (1) | 75% – 100% | UK 1st / US A / 4.0 GPA |
| Upper Second (2.1) | 65% – 74% | UK 2:1 / US B+ / 3.3-3.7 GPA |
| Lower Second (2.2) | 60% – 64% | UK 2:2 / US B / 3.0 GPA |
| Pass / Third (3) | 50% – 59% | UK 3rd / US C / 2.0 GPA |
| Fail (F) | Below 50% | Fail |
Student guidance
Don't forget that Continuous Assessment (CA) is a "hurdle." If you excel in the exam but failed to submit your assignments (CA), you can still fail the entire module. Always ensure you have a "Clear to Sit" status before exams.
How the Calculation Works
Weighted Average = Σ(Mark × Credits) ÷ Σ(Total Credits). Enter your percentage per module and credit value. Set year weights if your university uses level weighting.
