Montenegrin Grade Calculator
Calculate your weighted average using Montenegro's 6–10 national grading scale. Higher is better — 10 is Excellent, 6 is the minimum pass (50% of total points). ECTS credit-weighted as used by Montenegrin universities in the Bologna system.
Montenegro has organized its higher education system in line with the Bologna Process since 2004. Universities use the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) and a numerical grading scale from 5 to 10, where 6 is the minimum pass.
- Pass mark: 6/10 (E), corresponding to at least 50 points out of 100.
- Grades used: 5–10 numerically, with 6–10 as passing grades and 5 as fail.
- ECTS credits: 1 academic year = 60 ECTS, 1 semester = 30 ECTS.
- Outputs: Transcripts show numerical grades (6–10), ECTS letters (A–F), and ECTS credits.
- Prosječna ocjena: The cumulative GPA, calculated as a weighted average of numerical grades using ECTS credits.
Final grades are determined by the sum of points earned throughout the semester, usually on a 0–100 scale.
- Continuous assessment (class participation, homework, colloquia).
- Final exam (written and/or oral).
Once the total number of points is known, it is converted to a numerical grade (6–10) and an ECTS letter (A–F) using the official scale.
Only passing grades (6–10) are normally included when calculating the final cumulative GPA on official documents. Failing attempts are stored in the university record but typically do not appear on the diploma supplement as part of the final GPA.
Special rules:
- Minimum pass: 50 points = Grade 6 (E).
- Failing grades (5): Any score below 50 points is an F; students must retake the exam.
- Resits: Students can take a corrective exam (popravni rok). Points from continuous assessment often carry over to the new attempt.

| 9 | A | 3.7 – 4.0 | First / Upper Second (2:1) |
| 8 | B+ / B | 3.0 – 3.3 | Upper Second (2:1) |
| 7 | B- / C+ | 2.3 – 2.7 | Lower Second (2:2) |
| 6 | C | 2.0 | Third / Pass |
These mappings are typical for US/UK admissions. Always confirm with the receiving institution or a credential evaluation service.

Final GPA (prosječna ocjena) = 236 ÷ 30 = 7.87
Outcome: Dobar (Good performance).
- Prosječna ocjena: The cumulative weighted average of all passed exams.
- Diploma Supplement: A bilingual document in Montenegrin and English that explains the grading scale, ECTS credits, and the student's ranking.
- Bachelor's title: Awarded after completing 180 ECTS (usually 3 years).
- Colloquium (Kolokvijum): A mid-term exam that contributes to the total number of points and can significantly reduce the weight of the final exam.
The grading system is strictly defined by the Higher Education Law, so the 6–10 scale with ECTS letters is very consistent nationally. Differences appear mostly in how continuous assessment is weighted and how many resit opportunities are offered.
